The dynamic duo of Eric & Jean will lead you on an amazing bird walk through Hamlin Park! What wonders will you see & hear?
Please note: this walk will have us venturing on stairs & uneven pathways.
Come geared up with comfy shoes & binoculars (if you have 'em).
You'll find us gathered in the parking lot next to the baseball diamond as we prep for incredible birding action!
Immerse yourself in the incredible stories of Washington's migrating birds as discovered through catch & release banding! The tracking of birds allows us a window into their amazing adventures. Learn how catch & banding is done and the critical data obtained about species, health, sex, and age of our birds.
This class will be taught by Chris Southwick. Among her many accomplishments, Chris Southwick was a co-founder of Puget Sound Bird Observatory, a 501c3 group that bands birds and conducts scientific surveys. She has been banding birds since 2005 and teaching classes since 2010. Chris loves to teach about birds: their migrations, what that means to our birds, and how we can help support birds during their migrations and once they arrive where they are going. Chris is the author of "For The Birds," a publication in Shoreline Area News and a Certified Bird Feeding Specialist at Wild Birds Unlimited of Lake Forest Park.
This class is free and open to all.
Dragonflies and damselflies are often called birdwatchers’ insects. Active and brilliantly colored, these four-winged predators fly everywhere over unspoiled wetlands. Their very different-looking larvae are dominant predators in the water below. They have the best vision and the most versatile flight of any insects, and their sex life is similarly superlative. In a profusely illustrated lecture, Dennis Paulson will tell us all about the lives of these interesting creatures and how they fit into their environment.
All in attendance can enter to win a Dragonfly EcoWear Cap!
Please join us for this incredible opportunity to explore the nature around us.
You know that birds love to splash in a bath and need fresh water for drinking. But, did you realize there are many different species of birds that won't visit your feeders, but will take a dip in the bath? Join us as Team Specialist Daphne Legg provides tips & tricks for attracting more birds, keeping a bath clean, and gives you a sneak peek as to which birds you could attract!
All guests may enter to win for an Erva Copper Purification Disk and a Bird Bath Scrubber Brush!
