Daphne's Birding Tips & Tricks for October!🎃🍂🍁

🍂 October brings the return of many migratory species, such as the Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Townsend's Warbler and many LBB's! 😉 Our little brown birds, such as the Fox Sparrow, Golden-crowned Sparrow and the White-throated Sparrow. Stop by the shop for tips on which foods attract these birds!

October is the perfect month for winter prep in your yard! Check your feeders for any needed repairs or missing parts. We can help you with many of these needs at the shop. 🌲🍂

Do you have a Hummingbird Feeder Heater yet for those freezing temperatures?. Now is the time to get things lined up. This is so important for our overwintering Anna's Hummingbirds to keep their nectar thawed.

Also, bird bath heaters are vital in winter. Birds must bathe through the winter months to keep their feathers clean for proper insulation to stay warm.
☔ Once the rains kick in, you will want to have rain guards on all of your feeders, to protect seed, suet, cylinders and nectar. Now is the time to prepare! We have many sizes to fit the shape or size of any feeder.

🥜🥜 Birds continue caching through this month. The Steller's Jay is very busy stowing away whole peanuts for winter. Chickadees and Nuthatches are seeking Black Oil Sunflower to wedge under thick, craggy bark to retrieve in lean winter months. Be sure to have these foods at the ready to help our birds.

Preparation and planning now will go a long way in helping our birds this winter! ❤️

Enjoy the Birds! 🐦🐦‍⬛
